Jim Cate is a State of Iowa Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser providing independent residential appraisal services throughout Central Iowa. His practice focuses on the Des Moines metro area and surrounding communities, including Polk, Dallas, Warren, Greene, Carroll, Madison, Cass, Jasper, Adair, Story and Guthrie counties, with special focus on Lake Panorama.

Before entering the appraisal profession, Jim spent nearly a decade in the personal lines insurance industry, working extensively with homeowners and residential properties. This experience provided him with a strong understanding of home construction, property characteristics, and the factors that influence residential property value. His background in insurance allows him to approach each appraisal assignment with careful attention to detail and a well-rounded perspective on residential real estate.

Jim is committed to delivering credible, well-supported valuations with clear communication and dependable turnaround times. All appraisal assignments are performed in accordance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and current industry guidelines.

Jim is a native of Johnston, with a degree from the University of Iowa. He resides in Urbandale with his wife, two children and dog. He is an avid Hawkeyes, Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoys spending time on the golf course or their pontoon boat at Lake Panorama.
